FAQ

Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions page. If you do not find your answer here, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you with your query.

Q) Why choose autopo.st over any other company for my streaming needs?
A) Good question… We’re not going to insert a load of corporate wording here. We’re Radio people that understand Radio, but we’re also great technical people too. We know how important it is to have a solid streaming server and not have downtime. We concentrate on keeping our servers online, not on pretty words that get lost whenever there’s an issue. That said, we care about our customers and they come first. Give us a try!

Q) Are you just streaming resellers?
A) No! We own all of our own servers and hardware and are fully responsible for all of our own infrastructure, we’re not just a middle man (or woman), reselling services, we’re the real deal!

Q) What streaming platform do you use?
A) We use the CentovaCast platforms on all of our servers, the industry standard for Shoutcast and Icecast streaming. You can choose a server from Shoutcast v1 (no longer recommended), Shoutcast v2 or Icecast2.

Q) I don’t see the plan I’m looking for on your website.
A) Just get in touch, we operate our own servers and will be more than happy to get you a quote for your exact requirements.

Q) Why don’t you offer any unlimited plans like I’ve seen elsewhere?
A) There is no such thing as unlimited. We do not believe in overselling and conning our customers. Instead, we have realistic listener slots that we know our infrastructure can cope with. Remember the golden rule… “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Q) I can only see streams up to 128k on your website, don’t you offer higher quality bitrates?
A) Sure we do! 128k is pretty much standard, but if you want/need a higher bitrate, just let us know and we’ll get you a quote. We can easily cater for anything up to 320k.

Q) I have more than one station/stream, are there any deals?
A) YES! Contact Us for pricing, we’ll be more than happy to get you a competitive quote.

Q) Do you cover music licensing?
A) No, we do not cover any music licensing. You, as the broadcaster, are responsible for any music licensing for the content that you broadcast.
